Also: I laughed heartily.

One of the best things about this is that everybody is dead serious. Jimmy Fallon could learn a lot from studying this video.

tbh, I was kind of expecting this to get flagged to death by people who didn't watch the whole video.

It's illegal to film storm troopers.

The Leia's party video is pretty great, but, uh, why are the storm troopers carrying M-4s? Are blasters against regulation in this jurisdiction?

People have to stop doing that exaggerated zoom-in-and-out-this-is-so-real move at the beginning of these videos. Immediately gives them away as fake.

A pretty direct ripoff of the vastly superior Stabbing at Leia's Party.

As someone who was 18 when the first Star Wars movie came out and thus too mature to give a shit about Obi-Wans and Wookies and whatever, I've long been critical of the entire Star Wars franchise. Yes, even the first two movies.

But I'll happily take it all back if these two vids signal a new non-canon side genre of low budget (albeit convincingly presented) "modernized" Star Wars infected dramas. Because it's clear to me that the culture that does give a shit about Star Wars if far more interesting, far more nuanced, epic and sincere than the movies themselves.

Flagged as non-canon

Surely, using a canon would be jolly unsportsmanlike?

Alas, I hate to be bitter, but I long for the day when the first generation grows up having watched the Star Wars films in numerical sequence and therefore completely escapes the compulsive need to demonstrate that they're clever and meta by inserting endless SW references into things.

Tardis Tardis Tardis Baba Booey heroin-seeking spaceship whelk in a supernova Rosebud was the sled what the hell was that action figures.

Never mind. Star Wars, harumph.
