Donate blood Fellow Canadians, if you want to donate blood, call 1-888-236-6283 to set up an appointment. A friend at Canadian Blood Services said that the level in NY is very low - it's the least we can do.

They're saying on the CBC that Toronto is completely unprepared to take blood, and that you probably won't be able to do so today. We might need to wait a few clicks before they manage to get themselves in gear.

Praying, gathering news, trying to keep breathing.

Just a quick repost for when people pass through this thread, who may not be Canadian and missed this before. You can also call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE and 1-888-BLOOD88 Do not go to your local hospitals. To be effectively distributed, you need to contact a blood bank near you.

I'm too malnourished to give blood. How sad is that? [sarcasm]Three cheers for being unemployed![/sarcasm]

If you live in Quebec, you need to contact HEMA Quebec in order to give blood.

some additional Canadian numbers, but they are most likely swamped as it is right now:

1 888-2-DONATE, to contact the Canadian Blood Services.

1 800-565-0000, the Bed Bank, which I assume will be responsible for finding accommodations for all of the traffic that was rerouted into Canada.

1 800-418-1111, Red Cross cash donations, most likely credit cards.

I'm going to give blood as soon as possible.
