If you want to race in the swamp you'll need a buggy.

Officially it's November 12, 1949 that the first swamp buggy races were held. Here are a few races.
Here are a few more races with your choice of music: Fiddle, Surf, None or Country. And of course no racing is complete without a crash. Wiki

Swamp Buggy Races are held every January, March and October at the Florida Sports Park in Naples, Florida. Swamp Buggy, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to three principles:

*To produce fund-raising opportunities to all area charities and civic organization.
*To preserve the tradition of swamp buggy racing and to protect the heritage and culture of Collier County.
*To provide affordable entertainment and recreational activities to all citizens of Collier

But once you get in the buggy you'll realize you need a raincoat to keep dry with. And once I give you the raincoat, you'll ask for a pair of boots to go with it.

So.. having just moved from one suburb with a pretty mediocre swamp, to another suburb with what looks to be a near perfect swamp.. how do I build one of these?

In offroading circles there is two schools of tought regarding tyre width: Either wide tyres that "float" on the surface, or narrow tyres that dig into the slick top surface to hopefully get some purchase on the soil or rocks underneath. I say these guys are pretty firmly in the narrow tyres camp.

My mother goes to the championship race every year. I bought her a hat for the occasion that reads "REDNECK WOMAN" on the front, and "HELL YEAH" on the back.

I recently asked her to accompany me on a vacation to a beautiful resort on a Caribbean island. She stared blankly for a few seconds and replied, "...but that's when the SWAMP BUGGIES are. Nope."

*shrug*

My mom's weird and so is Florida.
