Tongue Blue

Blue-Tongue Films are an Australian collective of film makers. They’ve produced a couple of features including Animal Kingdom, for which Jacki Weaver has been nominated for this year's Best Supporting Actress Oscar. You can find a number of their shorts and other works on their Youtube Channel.

If you only watch one I'd recommed Spider, but they are all pretty much worth a look. Many NSFW.

Podcast interview with the director of Spider, Nash Edgerton about making the short.

Nice. Animal Kingdom is such a good movie.

Personally, I was a bit underwhelmed by Animal Kingdom, due in no small part to the really high expectations I had going in. But it's a good film, nonetheless, which I heartily recommend. You can't deny Jacki Weaver's brilliant performance.

If you loved Spider, I can't recommend The Square enough. I thought it was a brilliant, dark, incredibly tense modern noir. It's by the same director, Nash Edgerton.

I've been really excited by all the films coming out of Australia from this group, and I hope they get the recognition and success they deserve. It might be starting already, with Joel Edgerton (who was in Animal Kingdom and The Square) staring in the upcoming The Thing prequel.

Yeah, Nash Egerton / Blue Tongue have been making short films for years - Spider and Lucky have also been mentioned here before in posts & comments. Nash started off as a stuntman (often standing in for Joel), which is why most of the shorts are fairly violent or extreme.

Can't find my favourite online at the moment, but it's a short short that starts with a guy dicking around with a hammer, and ends up with him being smashed in the face with a fire extinguisher…

That'll be the ultra-short short Hammer

Should have also added an extra nod for Crossbow which I thought was an awesome film.

Really liked Animal Kingdom but unfortunately I couldn't get into The Square.

I was totally underwhelmed. Very unlikeable and unrelatable characters (I will allow that some were at least a little interesting), and a main "protagonist" so sullenly wooden and bereft of agency or development or even interest in what occurred around him, that he could have been replaced by a mannequin wheeled around on top of an office chair without much effect on the plot.
