In light of the latest dev blog on the subject of the Incarna update, What elements in a game creates the fabled immersion into vr?

Immersion to me implies a certain level of in game activities, that in themselves spawn in game events. i'm specifically thinking about my own "in game corp" GHSC -- The Guiding hand social club -- the t20 scandal, EIB and moongate.
Acts such as these, do to me, showcase how immersive a game such as EVE can be. But where is the lack of immersive elements?
