Tired of the hype around MTV's (and before that, the BBC's) modern teen drama Skins? Miss the 90s? Try Orange Juice in Bishops Garden, a web series, detailing the lives of a group of teenagers as they navigate high school in the year 1994. The show is set and shot in the greater metropolitan Washington DC area and is created by the DC-area filmmaker, Otessa Ghadar.

All the (90s indie pop inspired) music from the Series is available on their site as well.

Silly me, I was expecting the soundtrack to be full of Teenbeat, Simple Machines and Dischord bands. Maybe something from The Make-Up or Basehead. Oh well.

Data point: Skins wasn't made by the BBC. I did not know that Channel 4 programmes turn up on BBC America!

I spent an awful lot of my teenage years in the early '90s dicking around in the Bishop's Garden... this brings back weird memories, and yes, suffers from a lack of Fugazi references. ...also, if my friends and I had been there drinking after dark, the God Squad would've thrown us out so fast our heads would've spun. We did, however, climb up on the walls and throw shadow animals hundreds of feet tall on the walls of the Cathedral. Hell, you make your own fun when you're stuck at the Cathedral schools.

Data point: Skins wasn't made by the BBC. I did not know that Channel 4 programmes turn up on BBC America! We say "BBC" to mean "British Television" the same way we say "England" to mean "The UK."

i haven't watched this stuff yet. is there lots of weed smoking, daily basketball playing, fishing (and smoking weed), listening to 'master of puppets' (and smoking weed), watching x-files (and smoking weed) and getting expelled with 4 days left of your senior year (for pushing a teacher, not for smoking weed)? if so, i can relate.

I watched the first 4 seasons of the UK Skins (they take an interesting approach to keeping it fresh, by changing the cast every 2 years). Season 4 got a bit... Meh. I watched the first 20 minutes of the US Skins, and as far as I can tell it seems to be an almost word for word retelling of season 1 of the UK version, with a US cast. Except with no swearing or nudity. That was enough to get me to tune out.
