S'cool. I'm guessing they where influenced by Lovecraft and Gilliam. The Govt office is definite Terry material from Brazil, but the story also has his general feel to it as well, especially the ending.

I watched the nominees for best Animated Shorts yesterday. Lost Things was great, but I think Madagascar was the best, with Pixar's Day and Night a close second.

Is there something wrong with me? I usually like this sort of stuff, but I sat through the entire video and wasn't impressed at all. The narration was dull, the character design unappealing, they sledgehammered the daylights out of that clichéd "Wacky Weirdness!" vs. "SOULLESS INDUSTRIAL CONFORMITY" motif, and the whole thing felt too twee by half. It just wasn't very interesting visually, soundwise, as a story, or as a metaphor. I'm rooting for "Day & Night", myself. It had dynamic and innovative animation (especially in 3D), clever sound design, and much more humor and verve.
