Ok, but I liked the suggested video of the singing android faces slightly more.

Huh. I thought this was going to be about trivia playing NLP computers. posted by maryr at 11:39 AM on February 27, 2011 [3 favorites]
That is awesome. Has anyone used that trick in a survival/horror game before? I can't think of one, but it would be incredibly easy to do. Lots of potential. posted by Sibrax at 11:59 AM on February 27, 2011

Evidently Watson wil find me everywhere but on an Android phone. Now that's irony. posted by happyroach at 1:11 PM on February 27, 2011
At least he's not like the butler in Tomb Raider 3's training level, who follows you everywhere so you have to lock him in the freezer to get some privacy. posted by IndigoRain at 1:20 PM on February 27, 2011 [1 favorite]
Yeah, but if you fly into Chicago, for some reason he'll try to find you in Toronto. posted by overeducated_alligator at 1:38 PM on February 27, 2011 [5 favorites]

If a SurvivorBot ever gets far out of place for any reason, it is teleported near the team when no human is looking at it. posted by ymgve at 5:30 PM on February 27, 2011
Yeah, the Left 4 Dead games sort of do this. Zombies can't spawn in line-of-sight of humans, so in "versus" matches (human-controlled zombies vs. human-controlled survivors) it's a common tactic to "watch" any potential spawn points to block. The game doesn't pay attention to actual view directions, though, so you don't get the He's Right Behind You! effect like with Watson here. (Also, as a L4D addict, holy crap that PDF is awesome + informative, ymgve.)
The F.E.A.R. games do this (for cheap shock effect) too -- turn around and there's something creepy right behind you. posted by neckro23 at 7:06 PM on February 27, 2011
This is the type of Machinima that I like. Using the game's engine to tell a story that feels organic to it instead of trying to shoehorn an adaptation on it. posted by codacorolla at 8:21 PM on February 27, 2011
