Google

Google reminds me of elementary school in a way. Every time there was a holiday, Ms. Capp would put up colorful decorations on the walls, windows, and doors of our classroom. Perhaps my 3rd grade teacher took a job as a designer at Google, because they're continuing the tradition just as she would have.

Those are the kind of wonderful things that make up my elementary school memories....

Well, sure, the decorations are similar. But does Google offer you an opportunity to eat paste?

I have to say that I LOVE google. It must take balls to just put up the logo and not all that "sticky" crap that pundits insist is vital. Just the stuff I want. Thanks Google! I feel so warm and fuzzy now. Aaahhhh......

I have to say that those holiday 'decorations' that Google keeps putting up are incredibly tacky. What they should do is use their page as a showcase for artwork by elementary school pupils. Now that would cheer me up.

I made a green banner for
my site today...
I've been contemplating making a bunch of themed banners and
then rotating them into place with cron... maybe when I get
the itch to write more useless code I'll do that ;)

I can hardly wait for Google's April Fool's day motif. (It'll proably say "AltaVista")

I have only one simple comment:

No banner ads!

I thought I was the only one who noticed that stuff -- but I tell you -- the slightly older-than-middle-age woman in my office got a little delighted "kick" out of google. There was a little "oh!" when she hit the google and she said "anyone seen google? it's really cute today!"

These holiday things may seem trivial, but they get remembered. One theory - every days' screenshot of a website -- cnn.com, yahoo.com, is pretty interchangeable with any other day, and holiday makeovers of sites you visit daily stick in the mind just a little bit better.
