It probably isn't, but it does make one wonder why another woman is desperate to 'expose' the chap. We are all personas to a degree online.

I imagine this happens a LOT.

I know I've also dated myself -- typically when I start talking about that great band Paul McCartney used to play for before "Wings", but what's a Perkins-oh-crap-I-can-already-order-from-the-friggin-Seniors-menu??? guy to do?

Lonely person is lonely. Why is someone spending this much time to "expose" this guy?

The story on Gawker makes it clear that the guy was harassing the blogger, and when she blocked him this "girlfriend" sprang up to keep the harassment going. Target got suspicious, did some homework, and voila.

Because that's her shtick/job, I guess. It brings her attention and that's what she built her career on.

Oh, and also what L'Estrange Fruit said.

This has been an oddly big issue on reddit. It is always strange when you realize there are whole communities of people, following bloggers like xiaxue in a sort of pocket universe that I have no idea exists. It is like stepping out of your house one day and finding that a pack of velociraptors has nested in your mailbox.

I knew this would end up here. And probably be deleted. It was pretty funny, though. If you can't stand the heat, don't harass the blogger.

I dated myself for a while in college. It was just an experiment, though. The break up was pretty messy.

Why is this significant in any way?

Ad hominem, I got that in the days of Livejournal. The Gothic Lolita communities were the most vicious pack of bitches you'd least expect to find in a community based around wearing frilly bloomers. They put the Freepers on the Guardian's forum to shame for vitriol.

This is not the best of my web.

Ad hominem: It is like stepping out of your house one day and finding that a pack of velociraptors has nested in your mailbox.

How big is your mailbox? Velociraptors are larger than you are thinking. Perhaps you mean Hesperonychus?

Ugh, this is below the level of TMZ.

Nobody is being forced to post in this thread. If you don't like it FIAMO or just move on.

Why is someone spending this much time to "expose" this guy?

Why would this guy spends so much time setting up a fake girlfriend just to say racist and harrassing things to a random popular blogger?

I also have dated myself. According to carbon-14 levels I am from the late 20th century

It's really much less "obsessive blogger and the dude she targeted" than "racist asshole gets outed bigtime".

And without enabling scripts on the main linked page, this is what I see - the most boring story ever.
Peter Coffin: The strange story of a boy, a model and his 'girlfriend'

Kimi Kobayashi, who none of you know because she goes to school in the next school district and she has super-strict parents so she can't come out.
Given the discussion in this thread, I don't know if I'm really missing anything.

But I cheated with my left. shhhhhhhhh

Here's a direct link to Xiaxue's blog post, which is more interesting to me than the Metro article.

This is just sad...

Also, it's clear from the blog post that he didn't make up the girlfriend just to torment some woman he doesn't like... the fake girlfriend was already created... for comedic reasons I guess? Just for creepiness?

Saturday night was for wives, but Friday night was always for the girlfriends.

The way that piece is written makes the situation sound a lot more complicated than it really is.
