Wired News Redesign:What do you think to the WiredNews new-look? They've returned to using more black and a chunkier navigation bar. I thought there really was nothing wrong with the old version (and the improvements are indeed a step backwards) ?

The add banner is a bit ugh. The gray just seems like someone messed up the HexDex code.

Obnoxious banner-ad frame. An unnecessary drop shadow on one and only one element. Some of the ugliest link colors in the pallette. No clear division between the sidebar and the body of the page. The first couple paragraphs of a story don't align with the rest of the story. Articles split across pages, when the sidebar is much longer than the article. I don't know design (obvious from my weblog), but I know what I hate. BY the way, one HTML or styling feature that I would love would be able to set the maximum width of an element (table cell, etc.), so that it would only stretch with the window to a certain point.

crap, Crap, CRAP! The old design was quite good, or so I thought. Even if the content sometimes stunk. I was using the old design and model as an example for some intranet stuff I'm proposing. Which hurts me even more.... ugh...
