Is this Gary Condit's Wag the Dog? The heat is off.

Unless you're implying that Gary Condit masterminded the attacks, no. The complaint was rejected Monday, anyway, before the attacks.

The heat may be off, but this article (posted September 11 8:35 AM EDT) has nothing to do with the attack. It was dismissed because no criminal offense took place, and the state had no jurisdiction.

Gary Condit may be a womanizing scumbag, but he isn't a terrorist.

Sure, he's tugging at his collar in relief from being chased by the media hounds of hell...but unless Condit manages to definitively and single-handedly stop another suicide squad, he's still effectively been fired from his job.

He could always ressurect his reputation by becoming an American kamakaze and blow himself up after riding his harley up to the Afghani parliament building. But err, he's still not getting elected.

I think the point is the media has focused away from him, so he's probably relieved.

hey, you know what? i bet he's not "relieved" -- if this is what it takes to get the spotlight off, i think ANYBODY would choose the spotlight.

palegirl--Just suppose the guy's guilty--and I'm not saying he is; I certainly believe you're innocent until proven otherwise--and has been terrified every day by the intense public and private scrutiny. And if the guy's guilty, and is thinking authorities are getting closer to the truth, wouldn't a desperate man take any event like this as a "blessing"? This is assuming he's a)guilty and b)irrational. You're supposing otherwise, and I understand that and pray that's the case.
