Rebuild It, Bigger!America will find an appropriate way to mourn. But if we must have a shrine or monument for our remorse, let's put it on the 200th floor, right next to the antiaircraft guns.

I agree in general with the article, but the writer sounds like one of the masterminds behind the Tower of Babel.

IDEA FOR REBUILDING:

Yes, there is an appeal to rebuilding the WTC towers bigger and better than they were.

But guess what? The towers have to be occupied by tenants- real people. How many people would want to work in such a conspicuos and obvious target? These buildings are supposed to stand for more than 100 years. Won't some psycho terrorist some day want to do this again by crashing a plane (or in the future a small starship) into the building?

Ok, if you really want to rebuild something bigger and better, here is my favorite idea:
In the perfect scenario, the construction would be paid for by the countries of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and they should be called the World Peace Centers. I know neither of those countries had anything to do with the attack, and I know that we could easily afford to rebuild it ourselves, but I think the financing and the name would tend to annul the supposed "victory" of these terrorists.

Perhaps Jonah Goldberg could explain to us what the U.S. gets from supporting Isreal -- nah, nobody seems to want to do that.

Keep it as a park. A new building would be such an obvious target and downtown is too crowded and needs a park badly.
