Dear god, do I ever need this today. Thank you.

The cat holding the upside-down teddy bear is all "What? Don't judge me!"
posted by Inspector.Gadget at 11:18 AM on May 6, 2011 [1 favorite]

My favourites are the animals with toy versions of themselves, like the basset hound with the toy basset hound or the baby penguin with the stuffed grown-up penguin. Man, this is the best thing on the whole internet.

The cat holding the upside-down teddy bear looks like he's shaking it out for the money it owes him. He's probably an enforcer for these guys.

Cat is utterly humiliated by toy mouse. I like the cat nervously sneaking up on the toy on the floor, too.

The one called Mr Winkle with the dogs in a lineup is kind of confusing. I'm pretty sure the real dog is the second from the left, but they all look like stuffed animals.

And the pictures of the animal with the stuffed version of itself are clearly the best.

I have a bunny that has a passionate love for her stuffed purple alligator. There is something about the material that makes her really happy, and she'll just snuggle up next to it and lick it for ages.

Unfortunately, she's also shy about it and has never let me get a photo of this happening, so you'll just have to picture one of the cutest things you possibly imagine and pretend it's a part of this page.

you know, of course, that all those cute cats with the little toys are hanging on for dear life to what they think is their next meal... Sort of like when a politician shakes your hand it LOOKS all friendly, until you see your fingers are missing.

I so needed this today. Adorable! Love! Squee!

And I agree, the cutest ones are the animals with toy versions of themselves. This one in particular makes me smile.

Thank you.

Oh, and a lemur learning to ride a tiger? This doesn't strike me as "cute" so much as "that which finally dooms us"...

Yay! Needed this today.

Ah yes; re cuteness and anthropomorphizing. My wife's toy poodle had a stuffed toy poodle that he just looooved! If you gave him a treat, he would take the treat to his toy and drop it in front of his little buddy. Then he would grab the toy by the neck and shake it violently until he was sure it was dead, then he'd hump the corpse a few times for good measure, then he'd eat the treat.

I was going to just nominate the corgi with the octopus...but the whole of page 5 is insanely cute. And yes, a welcome break from the day.

Unfortunately the concept has been ruined forever for me by this (NSFW or those who are enjoying the schmoopie of the feature link up there).

I looked at every single one of them, and lived. It's clear that you can't die from excessive squee.

Looking through this site makes me want to go buy a stuffed Totoro.

It's for my future children! I swear!

Killer levels of cute

This website is a weapon of cute destruction.

We needn't worry about tiger-riding lemurs. If TV and movies have taught me anything, its that Lemurs are only concerned with dancing and feet.

I literally cannot handle this one.

This is, unquestionably and objectively, the best thing ever in the whole wide world forever and ever because of the omglookatallthepuppieskittiesomgthere'sahedgehog *dies*

OK, nanojath, I just checked that link. So much for teh cute... though I did LOL.

After some of the grar this morning, I thought we needed this. (Except for Nanojath. We don't need that, dude.)

I'm glad I could help.

I don't think I've ever seen so many Totoro plushies in my life. I want to know why I wasn't issued one with my cats.
posted by immlass at 12:07 PM on May 6, 2011 [3 favorites]

The basset hound is by far the best. I'm not sure which of them looks more cartoonishly cute.
posted by painquale at 12:09 PM on May 6, 2011

Goddammit. Now I really want a Totoro plushy. Stealth marketing?

You can crochet one! in the same colour as your furry chum.

TooFewShoes: The one called Mr Winkle with the dogs in a lineup is kind of confusing.

Mr. Winkle himself is confusing, "a member of the canine clan... mixed with something mysterious, like a teddy bear or Japanese cartoon character."

The flash site for Mr. Winkle is also confusing, but confusing in how/why someone ported a 1995 GeoCities page into flash.
posted by filthy light thief at 12:54 PM on May 6, 2011

Thanks, I needed that.

Mr. Winkle's owner is a classy guy who got a book deal and took almost every picture off the website whose visitors made him a star.

Recently, I've been trying to post one very happy thing a day to my wife's facebook. This is today's thing. In fact, all of the last bunch of things I've posted to her wall have been from Metafilter. Hurray!

our husky has a deeper love of/need for his teddy bears than I've ever seen in a human child. He knows them by name, has them for company when he's eating, shows empathy to them, you name it. This is the best cute porn I've ever seen.
posted by herbplarfegan at 1:41 PM on May 6, 2011

Oh god. I only made it about 3 pictures down before I was grinning like a doofus and emitting a high-pitched "squeeeeee."

The cat already has a stuffed whale that he likes to... whale on, but I think there needs to be more! stuffed! animals!

I literally cannot handle this one.

I know, Astro Zombie, I was pretty much like, "ok, cute, no big deal, interesting enough" and then bam, depleted-uranium cynicism-piercing headshot.

Oh man, I misread this as "Animals Stuffed With Animals" and got very scared. But then I saw all the "awww" comments and felt better.

This website is a weapon of cute destruction.
I did, in fact, get about halfway down the first page before I loudly exclaimed "I am destroyed" and then had to show everyone.
