Tonightis the first night of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and tomorrow the one-week anniversary of the attack. Am I the only one nervous about a knockout punch tomorrow morning?

Not sure what you mean when you refer to a knockout punch. To Israel? To the terrorists? When in doubt, consult Nostradamus. He never fails.

I too think 9.11 was only the beginning, but I don't think the Israeli aspect is really bin Lauden's focus right now. Reading his "Declaration of War" on assam.com linked here 9/16 he goes into great detail about what has pissed him off. The Israeli/Palestinian is a side issue for him. His primary focus is the American economic domination of Saudi Arabia, and this does fit his choice of targets better than an Israeli vs. Palestinian explanation.

Tomorrow should be like any other day, but with more prayer.

I meant to the US, but largely to New York given the obvious connections to the previous attack and the large Jewish population.

Also - thinking like a terrorist - to attack exactly a week later, on a day when Jews around the world are celebrating, makes sense. I guess the thing is, I'm not a terrorist, I can't think like one, and in the end, those are good things.

It's encouraging to be flamed for posting this (not flamed - mildly ribbed). I was considering waiting another day to return to NYC, but the message I'm getting is that tomorrow will be fraught with no more - or less - danger than any other from now on.

Y'know, I saw that program on Rosh Hashanah on BBC Sunday night, and I was touched by what the Jewish person said about peace and living in Harmony.

Happy New Year to all Jews out there! Inshallah it will be a good one for all of us =)

Any attack would have to be against a target that is unequivocally 'Jewish' and be made in such a way as to dissuade anyone from thinking it is simply a copycat or opportunistic crime. It really appears from the targets chosen that the 9.11 attack is about the (undesired) influence of 'Western Imperialism' on the Islamic countries. I think this is more about the Gulf War than it is about the existence of the State of Israel.

If these attacks on imperialist symbols are to continue the next target might be something symbolic of our cultural decadence...
