...and another spider/dog for those of you who like that sort of thing. posted by bonobothegreat at 6:36 PM on June 10, 2011
I'm going to guess mostly dogs dressed as lobsters. I am prepared to eat my words, though. posted by CitrusFreak12 at 6:37 PM on June 10, 2011
That conure or whatever dressed as a bee makes my heart melt, and I normally hate this sort of thing. posted by neuromodulator at 6:37 PM on June 10, 2011 [4 favorites]

.....also, why do so many people want to dress their pets up like lobsters? Is this a thing? I had no idea this was a thing. posted by Windigo at 6:43 PM on June 10, 2011 [3 favorites]
That was one fed-up-looking cat... 2.5 seconds after that picture was taken, that cat dressed its own self up as a mountain lion and the picture-taker as a jogger in the Rocky Mountains. posted by deep thought sunstar at 6:59 PM on June 10, 2011

I want photos of animals dressed as their own species.

OK, so I'm used to (and love) dogs in costumes, but the bird dressed up as a bee? The ferret as a dragon? VERDICT: SO GREAT. posted by troublewithwolves at 7:46 PM on June 10, 2011 [3 favorites]
I kept clicking through the archives hoping to find this picture, because it is pretty much the greatest thing ever. posted by Dr-Baa at 9:35 PM on June 10, 2011 [1 favorite]

Because they are so cute, we just want to cover them in butter and eat them up. posted by lesli212 at 10:27 PM on June 10, 2011
Doing stuff to your dog that your dog doesn't like, and that isn't doing your dog any good, is the kind of thing you tell your three-year-old not to do.
I'll admit it, though. Cruelty to animals is a sore spot for me. Even stupid little cruelties piss me off. posted by Trochanter at 1:20 PM on June 11, 2011
I am pretty sure the dogs are fine with it. But the cats aren't.

You shouldn't dress up your computer programmer in a silly outfit that they don't agree to. Anonymous got started following a disagreement over a lobster costume. posted by arcticseal at 5:50 PM on June 11, 2011 [1 favorite]
Bah, pet computer programmers, they'll never abide by any outfits. They'll just tell you how it would be more sensible for their computer to wear it instead of them. posted by TwelveTwo at 6:24 PM on June 11, 2011
That settles it. Dogs do not like to wear costumes. Cats don't give a crap. posted by chance at 7:10 PM on June 11, 2011
