Even if this is a double, post it as a comment in the Libyan rebel weaponry thread. I think it would tend to interest people who want to look at improvised arms and armor.

I think these kinds of vessels go beyond "improvised" though. Whoever designed and supervised construction clearly is most likely a foreign ex-navy engineer. They're also bankrolled by deep pockets. While it's not the same as above ground shipbuilding, it's pretty far out of the improvised weaponry category, in my opinion.
