Before anyone comes in here claiming this thread in the name of Spain or anything, I just wanted to say how much those pictures moved me. It's always the dogs and cats that get to me, I don't know why.

I love the dog! My cats would never do this, but they are cool, too, and provide comfort in their own way. But damn, that's a cool dog...

My wife has a friend who trains dogs of this sort, and goes out doing search and rescue. She went to Turkey when they had the earthquake, for example. She retired her previous dog about 6 months ago, and the new one isn't fully trained yet, so she isn't up in NY although many of her friends are.

What's amazing is watching the old dog and new one play in her back yard. One minute they are chasing and wrestling like you'd expect a 10 year old and a 9 month old dog to do, then she whistles, and they are at her side in seconds, as still as soldiers at parade review.
