I am suddenly thankful for my parents' interior decorating choices in the mid-to-late 80's. Several rooms in our house were "sponged," that is various sponges were cut into different geometric shapes (tree, circle, mushroom) and stamped ad infinitum on the wall. The color choices, as I recall, were teal and magenta on cream. Hideous, but they did not induce seasickness. Also, I think each room took less than 10 hours to "paint."

Amazingly, this "Army Arts & Crafts Department" that sends people to Korea to, uh, learn how to do rainbow sponging might actually be a real thing. I sort of preferred to think it was a total hallucination of her happy rainbow trippin' - it's groovier that way.

I searched and searched aimlessly, but finally found her name. (I'll admit it, mainly just because I really want to make some wiggles.) The woman in the video is Dee Gruenig. She's an established rubber stamper and contributor to titles such as "Crafting Your Career" and "Much More Magical Rainbow Sponge".

Okay, I sent a message to Dee via her husband Warren requesting to interview her (it didn't occur to me until later on that I might be the one actually breaking the news to them about the video). Anyhow days went by and it looked like I wasn't going to hear back, but then this morning, I got the following message from him:
"Wow, did someone have fun scrambling up parts of Dee's videos and web site postings.
She was upbeat when she worked and it sold a lot of products but not THAT upbeat. I believe you would do a professional job... but we both must turn the invitation down."
