The Artway Project. Alexander Artway was a 19 year-old Russian immigrant arriving at Ellis Island in 1922. Throughout his life and during all of his travels - Alexander Artway made photographs. He left a collection of thousands of photographic prints and negatives - of iconic images of Manhattan to earthy illustrations of his Russian family working the land.

Maria DiElsi has started to post images from the Artway archive on her website - Radiant Realm - New York 1930 -1938 - On the Deep Blue Sea - Russia 1927 - 1936 - Nudes (NSFW) These are just the first glimpses into the career of a photographer who left an archive of thousands of negatives and prints.

Currently, there is a Alexander Artway Kickstarter page - The goal is to organize an exhibition of his vintage prints, along with contemporary prints made from his negatives; and to produce and illustrated biography/exhibition catalog using Artway's own photos to tell his story and the history of an era.
