H1-B workers from India exempt from social security tax

Social security taxes provide a source of income to American retirees. Should an H1-B visa holder - a temporary employee - be required to pay into the American Social Security system?

I don't see why not - it's a tax, not a fee. People pay taxes all the time for things that don't directly provide them benefits.
