That's really too bad. She had an amazing voice.

Not to be snarky, but wasn't she on almost everybody's Death Pool list?

I don't expect this comes as a shock to anybody. She had a long history of drug addiction, and had to cancel a concert series recent because she was incapable of performing onstage.

It's still sad. She was a singular talent.

Sad. Just heard the news on the radio, they're playing one of her songs now. She did have a great voice.

What a sad waste of so much talent.
Rehab obviously didn't work.

I was actually surprised. I thought she'd live to an ironic 83, like William Burroughs.

Too many young people dying today. Poor kid.

Ms Winehouse and I had remarkably similar life paths, and if it hadn't been for getting clean(er) and moving away from the desire to be famous at any cost, this could just as easily have been me. What will hurt the most in the coming days will be the torrent of obviously absolutely perfect human beings giving the "well-deserved and good riddance/addicts are terrible always" obituaries. May her life be a blessed memory to those who grieve.

A few weeks ago I saw a ghoulish video posted from a recent concert (maybe in Belgium?) where she was just a pitiful wreck onstage. Couldn't remember lyrics, stumbling around. I felt gross for watching the 30 seconds I did. I just kept thinking, who let her onstage like that? Why wasn't there someone to say, stop, she needs help or at least not to be paraded around like a circus freak?

I hope someone puts together a worthwhile obit post for someone who actually affected so many people worldwide with the scope of her talent.

She always did remind me a little of Anita O'Day. I had hopes that she was turning a corner when it was reported she was recording a new album, but of course that fell apart quickly. She was an amazing talent that should of had a long career.
