If he had gone with a one-tubed dress he could have made an awesome crazy straw, though that would probably result in a lot of heads collapsed in upon themselves. posted by Alvy Ampersand at 5:37 AM on July 30, 2011 [4 favorites]

Cool, but I wish the video wasn't sped up. Makes for a cool video, but I also want to see what it looks like in real time. Also...Holy Patience Batman! Can't imagine how long it took to get all the loops and swirls right in the tubing. Color me impressed! posted by MultiFaceted at 6:49 AM on July 30, 2011 [1 favorite]
Pfft. You can get the same effect, sans dress, with a few Big Gulp cups of Radioactive iodine (or Lake Ontario water.) posted by Hardcore Poser at 7:06 AM on July 30, 2011

The poster says in the comments that people have worn the dress, but "I'm pretty sure the models' union would sue me over the filming conditions." It was also an aesthetic choice: "Besides practical reasons, I think I prefer having it on the dress form for this video. If no one is wearing it, then anyone can wear it...you know?"
In the comments the poster says the video isn't sped up: "It's all displayed in real-time without any post-processing, except for the intro and outro sequences which are mostly sped up." posted by hermitosis at 7:22 AM on July 30, 2011 [2 favorites]
