Saturday Night, R.I.P.

Saturday Night, R.I.P. Canada's best magazine is no more, victim to cuts at the National Post. Saturday Night was also Canada's oldest mag and had been affiliated with some great writers and editors (like Mordecai Richler, Paul Tough of This American Life and Open Letters, and the snarky crew at Fametracker). Terrific front-of-the-book section and great NYT Mag-style features; have fun in the archives.

Arts & Life and Review sections are gone too... hm.. it's almost like they think I'm going to read it for the news!

Funny, because I can get that for free online...

Saturday Night's died more than once in the past, hasn't it?

Yeah, it has had several incarnations -- along with stints as both a weekly and a monthly. The National Post made it their weekend mag a year or two ago.

At least the weekend paper choice just got easier. (I felt a little dirty buying the NP, but $1.75 for Saturday Night plus "a paper" was a pretty sweet deal.)
