On the one hand, I'm kinda tired of these "LOL LOOK AT THIS THING SOMEONE WORKED REALLY HARD ON AND THEN POSTED TO AN AMATEUR CRAFT SITE -- HAW HAW, IT LOOKS AMATEUR!" sites.
On the other, this one is damned funny. I think it's the captions that do it. posted by vorfeed at 11:38 AM on August 8, 2011

I don't think it's possible for a dog to be sad. I'll give you momentarily embarrassed, sure, but eventually it'll find something stinky to roll in and will cheer right up. Such magnificent creatures. posted by phunniemee at 11:40 AM on August 8, 2011 [5 favorites]

Last night, my girlfriend informed me that when Christmas presents are unwrapped in her large and gift-giving-loving family, the stick-on bows go on the dog. She then turned to the dog and informed her that she fully intends to carry on this tradition. posted by griphus at 11:46 AM on August 8, 2011 [5 favorites]

Some breeds (like the French Bulldogs and Chihuahuas) look sad when you dress them in anything. I think it may be an optical illusion. posted by oneswellfoop at 11:53 AM on August 8, 2011
I don't think I have ever seen so much stinkeye in one place before. I am starting to fear that when the chihuahua revolution comes, humanity will be first against the wall. posted by Lyn Never at 11:56 AM on August 8, 2011 [1 favorite]
I had a black lab that HATED having those cutsey reindeer antlers put on his head. Didn't mind them at first - but when we doubled over in crying out loud laughter - he knew that he was being laughed at - not with. He would pull them off his head and chew them to fucking pieces.
Dogs know when they are being humiliated. These dogs certainly do. posted by helmutdog at 11:57 AM on August 8, 2011 [1 favorite]

phunniemee: I don't think it's possible for a dog to be sad.
Yeah, it's not like they're cats or anything.
Speaking of, the angry cat -- both the picture provided and the idea of trying to put my own usually mellow cats in clothes -- makes my hands nearly start to spontaneously bleed, stigmata style, because it is so easy to imagine the scratches.
I love these dogs for their patience. If I'd evolved with the instinct to bite, I'm sure I wouldn't have it. posted by MCMikeNamara at 11:58 AM on August 8, 2011

figure most dogs really really do not care how they are dressed; it's just not on the dog radar. This dog, however, I believe, is expecting death from shame at any moment. For shame, dog dressers, for shame! posted by GenjiandProust at 12:01 PM on August 8, 2011

I wish I could give all of these dogs enough tummy-scratches and "who's a good boy/girl?" endearments to compensate for the joy they've brought me through their suffering. posted by ShutterBun at 12:07 PM on August 8, 2011 [1 favorite]

I think it's pretty obvious that Lobster Corgi was not dressed by a human; he chose his own costume and is proudly cosplaying. posted by Tomorrowful at 12:12 PM on August 8, 2011 [4 favorites]

Sad Etsy Dogs is HILARIOUS! a disgraceful exploitation of the suffering of these poor creatures!
(I only photoshop things onto my dog, because she's pretty cattish for a dog, and would hold it against me forever if I ever really Etsyd her for true.) posted by taz at 12:28 PM on August 8, 2011 [1 favorite]

No, I'm sorry. I can't laugh that much at dogs. First, because it's wrong to enjoy their suffering this much, and second because my dogs would eat my face if they saw it. posted by S'Tella Fabula at 1:00 PM on August 8, 2011
I wouldn't worry too much about the dogs. There's really no humiliation so great it can't be soothed by a good thorough ball-licking, followed by a big slobbery face-licking.

Thank you, thank you so much. I was snorting and guffawing, and doing pretty well - but then I got to the title The Queen of Autumnal Spite and I was sufficiently weakened enough so that Puff Clam Dog Displays Feelings With Only Appendage Left that I might have had to step away from the computer for a change of undergarments. Goodness knows I spend way too much time on days like today somehow getting sucked into looking at 34 pages of regrettable tattoos - but I must say, this is well-done.
