Truth and Reconciliation - It's complicated

Would you donate your settlement? I am a non First Nations Canadian living in the north. For many years I have tried to understand issues and conditions facing First Nations people in North America. It's complicated is the best I've been able to articulate. From Little Saskatchewan to the story of the man with nothing who donated $50 000.00. I have yet to figure out what I feel about this.

It's a fucked up system. You have INAC (or whatever Indian and Northern Affairs has been morphed into), a bloated, massive bureaucracy that sucks up a lot of dollars that could be better spent elsewhere, like on First Nations people themselves. Add to the mix that it's impossible to own private property on a reserve, so there is utterly no conventional way for First Nations people to build wealth. And then the corrupt tribal system that operates with little to no accountability...
