If these are not real then they are very very well researched...

Al Pacino
sat next to him at mr chows one night.

That is one hell of a story. Least he could have said what he thinks of Mr Chows.

He totally had a geek out when he got to meet Tina Fey, oh ?uestlove, you have hit the drum kit of my heart.

Aww, him wanting to live in the spice rack of Will Smith's kitchen is like the best thing ever.

These are all pretty interesting and entertaining but I seriously do not have the patience to keep scrolling down and clicking and scrolling down and clicking. Put them all on one page grejdkfjdjkfd.

Interesting and entertaining I like hearing about the ways celebrities interact when they're not on camera, especially in a way/from someone in particular that I perceive as being exceptionally honest.

I had no idea ?uestlove was so funny.

Plus the one about Black Thought is really sweet.

Simplicity's really got something going for it.

These are from a giant thread on the okayplayer.com boards a few years ago. Here's the MeFi post about it. Good thing someone archived these, since the original thread is gone.

It's impossible for me to not click a link that has 'Jon Spencer Blues Explosion' in it.

I'm digging these stories, but I still have a craving for some BB/JSBE fun. I lieu of new stuff, here's Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Flavor feat. Beck and Mike D (with a hint of Flavor Flav). The Aerosmith/RunDMC references are especially worth seeing.

This track single-handedly got me and my overstuffed mind through a nightmarish three days of comprehensive (including subjects outside your major) 'fill in the blue book and oral (think old-school KGB interrogation) exams to get my degree.

On Sasha Grey:

she came and..well?

she's smart.

and not that.... novelty "smart for a porn chick" smart.

like i secretly believe she is doing social research for her masters degree or something. this cant be the final stop.

Definitely an angle about a porn star that I would never have known otherwise.

Also, the impression I get is so many of these people, like with any scene or group or industry, spend a truly enormous time amount of time on AIM or gchat with each other.

How does John Mayer get so many presumably non-desperate women to date him??

I met ?uestlove in 2006. I was shooting behind-the-scenes stills for the Monday Night Football opening sequence. He was down to earth and great to talk with between takes.

There were so many famous artists there. Little Richard and Bootsy Collins were my other candidates for most laid back and easy to talk to.

Strangely, I'm not listed as a celebrity ?uestlove has met.

I don't understand the MIA story. What happened?

Really love this.

It seemed like they were in this Japanese nightclub and the VIP section was enclosed in too-clean glass walls. MIA walks smack into the door and falls straight back. No one catches her. The guys inside go to help her but they can't figure out how to get out for like 20 seconds. She can't look any of them in the eye for a year.
posted by bleep at 7:45 PM on August 22, 2011

Oh, FFS, I didn't scroll down past the "THE END" of part one.
posted by neuromodulator at 7:54 PM on August 22, 2011 [2 favorites]

oh shit that MIA story is hilarious. If you follow it all the way down, it morphs into a story about Q-Tip going on stage in Japan and diving belly-first on to a chair that slides all the way across and off the edge of the stage.

we instantly ran to try and see if she was ok but the door was so clean we couldn't even find how to escape.

So I was reading this one and thinking, "Tarantino and Fergie have a joint birthday party?! That's bull."

They do, apparently.

I would not like to have to explain to Bootsy Collins how I charged $300 dollars in room service to his account on accident.

This is so great. The Buddy Miles story is my favorite so far.

The Herbie Hancock story made me sad, I feel the same way Q does about Herbie's "Santanarization" and would have loved a "Sunlight" remake with Q involved. I'm not the most massive Roots fan as it turns out but almost everything Q touches musically is worth listening to.

Met ?eustlove at a Beastie Boys concert in '94 or'95. Just walking around in the middle of the crowd. I'm trying to rack my brain because iirc he was probably one of the only black guys walking around in the middle of a throng of thousands of white people. Just idly walking around checking out booths. Now, we're talking about a fairly large black man that maybe hovered a good six inches above the rest of the crowd and when you add in his afro he was kind of hard to miss. I think I was one of maybe three people that recognized him.
