I had no idea that behavior was referred to as "binkies."

But it's delightful to observe, especially when there are toys involved. Does throwing a cardbord tube up in the air, dancing a little jig around it when it falls, and then throwing it in the air again count as "binkies?"

Then yes, I have seen hella binkies.

A couple of days ago I met a rabbit on the bus. It was out of his carrier, not on a leash and just sedately curled up on his owners chest and shoulder, warily watching the rest of the bus patrons.

It was actually rather astounding. Rabbits are usually so inherently skittish and quick to startle I can't imagine having one on a bus. That would just be asking for rabbit panic.

Nah, he just chilled out. Apparently he was very well cared for and trained.

I've watched our rabbit do this many times, and I've always assumed that, in addition to it being fun, it was the prey animal equivalent of a cat stalking a toy mouse. The cat is practicing hunting, the rabbit is practicing getting away, hence the giant jumps and random direction changes.

As an added bonus, this kind of behavior completely freaks out pet cats and dogs who live in the same house. I'm not sure what they think is happening, but a bit of bunny parkour and all the other pets tend to get hidden.

Also, it's just my feeling, but I think that there is a distinct lack of Pale Discworld horses in a post with "Binky" as a tag

If you think that's bad you really don't want to see the sort of mess pet (orphaned) lambs can make of a floor...

Rabbit piss is actually far more hassle to clean up than the wee, it's full of calcium. Good for indigestion though....

If you think that's a lot of rabbit shit right there? Respectfully, you don't know from rabbit shit. My two can crank out that many droppings in twenty minutes flat, and this person has four bunnies. I will lay money that carpet isn't where they spend all their time, and they have litter boxes somewhere else, possibly in a pen where they hang out during the day.

(And some are more trainable than others. I have a boy rabbit who looks like Huxley and has fine litterbox habits, and a girl who looks like Monk and is just an unstoppable shit machine. The world is hers and she will shit on it as she pleases.)

louche mustachio, the throwing things and dancing isn't the same as binkying, but falls into the same category: they play for stress relief. Some play more than others, but on the whole, bunnies have evolved play instincts to help keep from giving themselves heart attacks. (As you might if things were always trying to eat you.)

... there's just no real market for rabbit hides these days.

10 - 14 rabbits per Akubra hat

Just curious - do people come into cat posts and talk about killing or eating cats? Dogs? Is it okay to come into a puppy post and talk about killing and eating puppies?

Then why is it okay to come into a thread about pet rabbits and start talking about killing them and eating them? I could understand if this were a rabbits-for-meat or factory farming post, but it isn't. If you don't like the thought of your cats and your dogs being killed for sport or eaten, maybe you should give the same courtesy to other people's threads about pet rabbits.
