I wondered why this idea never caught on in the vinyl era , then I realized that it would take a fair number of tries to get the seams and the parallax just right, and this whole meme depends on digital snapshots as much as vinyl LP jackets. bendybendy, it would be easy to snap in one shot with film SLRs. I saved to buy one as a teenager; it's not like they were rare.

Actually, philip-random, as I recall the most important thing next to the music itself was the album cover, preferably read by a friend sitting on your dorm floor. And of course the covers were also "great for cleaning (70s seed-filled) herb".
