Cryogenic Husk features themed mixtapes, mostly of the metal or punk variety. Check out mixes based on being shipwrecked, Egyptology, or Nikki Sixx in '87.

I'm glad to see Nile appears in the Egyptology mix three times. No mix of that theme would be complete without them.

This is a really cool site, thanks LiB. I think I'll refer to it later for some thematic grooving.

Can we get these guys in on the next MeFi Swap?

Ulver AND Boards of Canada? Why yes, thank you. Don't mind if I do.

Oh my god. Oh my god. Hardcore Summer of 2001. For those about to bake...we salute you. Whiskey Funeral. They have managed to combine so many good things into one blog that I think I need to go lie down on a fainting couch.

Growing up just outside of Boston and discovering hardcore at 14 was (and is still, at the age of 29) utterly formative for me. The shows played in this area circa 1999 - 2002...the bands, the kids, the intensity...I don't know if anything will ever top it.

Hardcore saved my life, and this just reminded me of how true that is.

This is pretty cool, thanks L.I.B. Karl Sanders' solo albums are surprisingly good and non-cheesy (except for that part on the first album with the cartoon-villain voiceover).

Awesome. Sadly, I am the mortal enemy of that blog.

Aw I was hoping there might be some mention of Nikki Sixx's hilarious porn movie, but that didn't come out till '91
