In 1956 or 57, my dad took us down to the King Street Station to see the last steam train leave Seattle. It's one of my earliest memories.

I love seeing excellent model railroads, but they tend to be poorly filmed, made to look more claustrophobic and limited on film than they would appear in person. This was the best model railroad presentation I've ever seen. It really captures the magic of a carefully done setup in person, and tells a little story at the same time.

Wonderful.

It's not Steampunk; it's just steam, punk.

This whole tilt-shift thing is so played out. Wait, what?

It's so nice to see model railroad videography that doesn't bore even model railroaders. Most of what I've seen on YouTube is awful. This is really great!

I thought this would be about computer games.

The video was shot on location at the Model Railroad Club of Toronto (est. 1938).

Video about the club and its members.
CBC clip about club member John Batton.

The Club opens its doors to the public just a few days a year, so that young children can crowd into the two long and cavernous basement rooms and and watch the trains, and laugh, and scream, and get tired, and push, and shove, and cry, and scream even louder.

I like this video because there are no screaming kids.

I grew up building HO layouts with my Dad, and this was just sweet. Really brought it all back--working with miniatures, you can kind of get sucked right into the scale, and imagine yourself as one of those little tiny plastic people you've carefully painted with Testor's. It a lovely little escape and this captured the feeling. Nice music too.

I don't know what a Triolian is, but I think I like it. Excellent! Watched once for the video, and twice more for the soundtrack.

I thought the video was great (I loved HO model RR as a kid and still do.) and the song was really good as well. I happily bought the mp3 from amazon. (Also no idea what a Triolian is.)

I grew up with Lionel gear. Love the scale, hate the look of the track. But, I love looking at other's model trains. I'd never have the patience to get into it myself.
