Lady Gaga: You’re sort of obnoxious, but people can’t help but like you.

This post was deleted for the following reason: No biggie, but the linked site seems like kind of cheesey linkbait SEO stuff just trying to run with someone else's riff in a way that feels kind of skeezy. -- cortex

"Van Morrison: You’re a romantic. Possibly with a slight drinking problem."

explains why I'm commenting on this....

Apparently I love with the heart of a warrior and am a good person, but I'm also an asshole. I can't tell you anything else about myself, though, because the other two of the big five didn't make the list.

Also, I'm pretty sure this isn't very accurate. Did they actually consult any psychologists on this? Because I'm pretty sure that Nickleback is no one's favorite band.

Lets see. According to this I am

A nerdy man who is a good person with a big heart who is willing to work for it but is pissed off that I have to, but who falls in love way too easily. I love with the heart of a warrior and I know exactlywhat I am doing. I am also the kind of person that people get obsessed with for years but I'm too depressed to appreciate it. I'm very loving, but prone to fits of irritating self-righteousness. Despite this I am reasonably well adjusted, considering.

Well, other than the fact that I'm a woman, that's actually pretty accurate.

"Panda Blood"? Sorry, they're called Bloody Panda, and they're pretty great, if you like slow, terrifying screamy music. Want to come back to my place and have sex?

This is pretty weak blog-based SEO optimization for a dating site.

So. They ripped off John Peck/McSeeney's?

And are less funny?

Uh-huh.

The Pink Floyd bit is exactly right on target.

Sorry I was so late posting this comment. I was.... occupied.

I'm average for knowing more than Good Times, Bad Times; Stairway to Heaven; and The Immigrant Song?

For shame!

Call me crazy, but I don't think people should be judged by musical tastes, they should be judged by how attractive they are.

This is weirdly accurate. How could they tell all this from my favorite bands?

"You have a great need for other people to like and admire you. You have a tendency to be critical of yourself. You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them. Disciplined and self-controlled outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof. You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic. Security is one of your major goals in life."

Freaky.

I once called up a radio station and dedicated a Yardbirds song to a girl I was crushing on. What that means to these people i don't know. We did wind up a couple for a while FWIW.

McSweeney's just did a Part 2 to "What Your Favorite 80s Band Says About You", and it was sadly less funny than the previous because it mostly abandoned relating things to the image of the bands and went for random absurdity.

I don't really like any of these, nor have I heard of most of them. How about:

Korpiklaani - Hey, you know what's better than having a date at this restaurant? Let's see how big of a bonfire we can make while getting smashed.

Not that I would ever suggest such a thing...

Though I do love La Gaga, I don't see any of my favorite bands on those lists. Right now I'm drinking a very nice Tormaresca and listening to the new Kangding Ray. What does that say about me?

Ha! I do like Leftöver Crack better than all the bands listed. But if I'm on a date: Brace yourself Jews of the World in nine months and change shit is gonna get real.

Gogol Bordello -- My son has a (female, teenage) friend who slept with Gogol himself. Every time the friend is mentioned, he tells me how cool he thinks that makes her. Neither of us likes Gogol Bordello. I think he thinks it's cool women are charitable and nice like that.
