Human flag.72,000 San Diegans came out this past weekend to make a human stars and stripes. Apparently the FAA wouldn't give clearance for a helicopter to take aerial photos. How ironic.

Not ironic at all.
As an American, I'm getting used to the sound of my government saying the word "no".
I see a lot of that coming up real soon.

Didn't they do this in Phoenix a week ago?

I'm more worried about congress saying no to civil liberties than some arguably lame photo. I'm getting sick of all things patriotic and the sanctimonious attitudes of those who can't keep the cheerleadering noise down after dusk.

It's only ironic in the Alanis Morissette sense, surely?

Why can't they just send someone up the fire escape, like in Lake Wobegon?

All this competitive piety will end in tears, you mark my words.

And you can have a swell screensaver of Tucson's event, too!
