Ack, overlooked the other cosplay post just before. But uh, this one show actually outstanding cosplay and lots of people having fun and hopefully won't give people nightmares. posted by kmz at 7:20 AM on September 27, 2011
If you just drink out of glasses you find sitting on the street, you can't really complain about the video you find yourself in, can you. Still, it was amusing, and, from the YouTube sidebar, it seems like kind of a thing -- lipsyncing at comic conventions. I am unsurprised, honestly. posted by GenjiandProust at 7:38 AM on September 27, 2011
This was tremendous. The joker reveal at :45 was awesome, indeed. posted by Inkoate at 7:45 AM on September 27, 2011 [2 favorites]
This is my two-year-old's favorite song (which says something), despite all my attempts to shield her from it (her mom listens to the radio). Completely inappropriate lyrics for a two-year-old. And so.

It makes me a little sad to think that an entertainment industry executive could look at that video and only think about how much theft is going on in it, those little nerd bastards stealing the Pink money and the Batman money that should rightfully be his. posted by Horace Rumpole at 8:25 AM on September 27, 2011 [1 favorite]

What's Kari Byron's sister at 1:33 dressed as? posted by Harald74 at 12:52 PM on September 27, 2011
Was wondering the same, Harald74. Also, where's the female Doctor, desjardins? Not seeing that one (but then, I don't know the Dr. Who series as well as I should). posted by Inkoate at 12:56 PM on September 27, 2011
The female Doctor shows up first at around 1:07. She's dressed up as David Tennant's Ten. No idea on the other question though. posted by kmz at 2:46 PM on September 27, 2011
Huh... I was just figuring that was a harry potter reference, to be honest. Was wondering why they hadn't bothered with a lightning scar. This makes much more sense! posted by Inkoate at 5:35 PM on September 27, 2011
I thought part of the fun of a lip dub was that you did it all in one take? posted by buriednexttoyou at 5:39 PM on September 27, 2011
Related, but a bit more "unrehearsed," from the San Diego Comic-Con, a (not-quite lip dub, more like a crowd-sourced lipsync) rendition of "Born This Way."
Possibly previously? posted by ShutterBun at 7:24 PM on September 27, 2011
That was really cool - I love how the internet has just exploded the con scene, though I confess I've never been to a con myself.
If I had been just few years younger I could have seen a lot of this during high school and I think it would taken away the more bitter, fuck-you aspects of the pride my friends and I took in being outsiders at the time. That fellowship would have tasted a lot nicer than the derision we used as armour instead. Lovely. posted by smoke at 9:10 PM on September 27, 2011 [2 favorites]
I like how in the "Born This Way" dub the cosplay bender is actually smoking a cigar in the convention center. posted by AElfwine Evenstar at 11:03 PM on September 27, 2011
