You can remove your personal information from websites that do background checks

FAQ on background checks - Removing your personal info I was not pleased by the fact that you have to go to each different website to make a request (there are many websites that do instant background checks) and some of them will require you to mail in your request. Some of these websites will also require you to show proof of who you are. One of the easiest examples of removing your information would be going to whitepages.com, searching for your name, clicking a link to remove your info. Most of the time it is not this convenient, however.
