In a democracy, it's your vote that counts. On Sesame Street, it's your Count that votes. Ah-ah-ah!

The Best of #OccupySesameStreet. Since its launched two weeks ago, the #OccupyWallStreet movement has gone national, spawning copy-cat demonstrations in far-flung locales like Tulsa and Boise. Its members have serious concerns--about income inequality, the influence of large corporations in our political system, and their own financial futures. The #OccupySesameStreet movement? Not so much.

There is something fundamentally wrong with a society that vilifies people who spend their nights in a trash can.

Down With Elmo, Up With Wonder!

Seriously, mid-70s SS? The bomb diggity. I actually feel bad for the kids born after 1982.

I'm glad Mother Jones is reading twitter feeds so I don't have to.

I am a baker who fell down the stairs ten times because I was forced to work in an unsafe pastry-delivery area. Now I have no insurance and mounting medical bills from my multiple injuries.

I am the nine-ty-niiine per-cennnnt! Ow! Ooof! Ow!

Has anyone on Sesame Street ever counted past 12? They don't care about the other 88%!!!

and there are a few #occupysesamestreet tweets since that article that are good if not better...

@daudig said "We don't need an Arab Spring, we need a Prairie Dawn."

@notjessewalker tweeted "Three muppets froze to death when they privatized THE ELECTRIC COMPANY."

@desusnice gave us "he's cute but i'm pretty sure Elmo is here illegally"
(I'm surprised there isn't more Elmo-bashing in this meme)

And how come the near-extinct Snuffleupagus has been removed from the endangered species list? I'll tell you why: they're planning on turning his natural habitat into a condo complex and golf course!!

What about the everyday poverty that's hidden in plain sight? What about the Snffleupagus who lives on the street right under our noses that no-one even sees? Is he part of the 99%?

I would occupy Sesame Street to return Grover to his rightful place as the number one cute, loveable monster.

also for the chance to meet SuperGrover - he's my hero.

I don't have a pithy contribution but I feel the need to share that every Sesame Street thread puts that "1-2-3-FOUR-FIVE" pinball song in my head.

I watched SS today and the SuperGrover 2.0 stuff keeps getting better each season. That and the Monster at the End of This Book (and iOS apps folks!) make Grover one of my preschooler's faves.

Fuck Snuffleupagus and fuck Elmo. I'm tired of seeing all these foreign muppets trying to steal resources from natural-born Sesame Street citizens. They don't deserve the protection of the Company.

I hate to break this to you, but Mr. Snuffleupagus is now visible. It's one of the most painful generation-gap things I've encountered.

Having looked at the Wikipedia entry for Snuffy, I guess I'm still young enough that I should have known that.
