Dennis Ritchie, creator of the C programming language, a key developer of the Unix operating system, winner of the Turing Award, IEEE Richard W. Hamming Medal, National Medal of Technology, and the Japan Prize, has died.
Also, of course, he was co-author (with Brian Kernighan) of the famous K&R book, The C Programming Language. This is someone truly worthy of our grief.
