I can almost see Nina Blackwood introducing this one on MTV, circa 1982, right after Toni Basil's "Mickey." posted by VicNebulous at 11:11 AM on October 25, 2011 [1 favorite]

That, uh, was what you took away from the video? I mean, it's awesome that they used plus-size models. But it was hard to actually see the plus-size models, you know, on account of the blood pouring out of my eyes, and the sheet of vomit and tears on my monitor. posted by liminalrampaste at 11:12 AM on October 25, 2011 [5 favorites]

Can someone clue in this non-clicker as to what kind of thing this is? I like to be au fait with current memes but hate clearing up the eyeblood. posted by beniamino at 11:27 AM on October 25, 2011
It's nothing. It's a music video with people who have an additional head in their crotch. posted by sageleaf at 11:31 AM on October 25, 2011 [1 favorite]
That was funny. And trite.
I've always known people who have kind of novel kind of so what ideas, ideas they like to talk about at full volume. It seems like more and more these people are getting their hands on video equipment. posted by From Bklyn at 11:42 AM on October 25, 2011

Ugh. These are the guys that are responsible for that horrible "Barbara Streisand" song that they play constantly at my gym. I seriously want to punch these guys in the "face." posted by TheWhiteSkull at 11:50 AM on October 25, 2011 [6 favorites]

Comparison with Windowlicker (NSFW) is not inappropriate.
Unless the irony of Big Bad Wolf is so subtle that I don't get it (ie, I would need to be a hipster or something), I don't see any comparison. posted by KokuRyu at 12:33 PM on October 25, 2011

What was so wrong with the video? I'm not sure why everyone is freaking out? I mean sure, there's some naked people and stuff, but what's so strange? The heads? I mean - that's just the natural morphology of a symbioid, so this is just what I see everyday when I look in the mirror. I call my crotch-face "Sam"... Sam Bioid. posted by symbioid at 12:35 PM on October 25, 2011
I don't see any comparison.
You don't see a comparison between two videos which hinge entirely on a man's face being put in a weird but sexualized context? posted by SharkParty at 12:38 PM on October 25, 2011
Well, yeah, sure, I get that, but the music is what counts, and Aphex Twin is much more sophisticated. Unless these Duck Sauce is purposely putting out boring music that is intended to be an ironic metajoke. posted by KokuRyu at 12:41 PM on October 25, 2011 [1 favorite]
Duck Sauce is intentionally putting out music that are guaranteed floor fillers. It's a rare dance floor that Aphex Twin wouldn't immediately clear. posted by empath at 12:52 PM on October 25, 2011 [1 favorite]
Put the Big Bad Wolf on with headphones forget the howling wolf sound for a second and listen to the bass and kick and how flawlessly they play off each other and with the snare and hi-hats, etc. It sounds a lot simpler than it is. It's not easy to get that kind of perfection. And I'd listen to just that beat by itself for 10 or 15 minutes, perfectly happily. You don't need complexity to create a perfect dance floor record, you just need a decent beat and sparkling production. It's the kind of record you can hear 10 seconds of in a club and know it's going to be a monster.
I still think it's possible to combine interesting music with music you'd want to dance to.
Yes, but Big Bad Wolf is an interesting record, if you're a dancer or a DJ. It's a stripped down beat that doesn't sound like anything else right now, so it makes a nice change of pace, and it' s the kind of record that drives dance floors crazy with tension. It's a record by DJs for DJs.
Not every record needs to be about something. Sometimes you can make a record that's about nothing more than making asses move, and there's an artistry and purity to that that's just as valid as any other kind of music. posted by empath at 1:07 PM on October 25, 2011 [5 favorites]
Empath is right. I don't dig IDM 'cause it's aimed at the wrong part of the body! And asses are DUMB... posted by black8 at 1:11 PM on October 25, 2011
