Capitalism devours everything. Copies of the Occupied Wall Street Journal from the New York protests are being sold on eBay. And apparently the 1% is buying them?

Trophies for their game rooms. The rich will get a big kick out of showing Chaz from the club what happened last time the "other half" got uppity.

Any context? I missed what this paper is, and surprisingly, Buzzfeed isn't too informative.

Not surprised. OWS always puts me in the mind of Tom Wolfe's essays on radical chic:
And then later on you think about it and you say, "What really happened that day? Well, another flak catcher lost his manhood, that's what happened." Hmmmmmm...like maybe the bureaucracy isn't so dumb after all...All they did was sacrifice one flak catcher and they've got hundreds, thousands...They've got replaceable parts. They threw this sacrifice to you, and you wnet away pleased with yourself. And even the Flak Catcher himself wasn't losing much. He wasn't losing his manhood. He gave that up a long time ago, the day he became a lifer...Just who is fucking over who...You did your number and he did his number, and they didn't even have to stop the music...The band played on...Still--did you see the look on his face? That sucker--

Sorry -- it's a journal being produced by the OWS in Manhattan.

Their Kickstarter campaign

Read it on Google docs

I refuse to believe that absolutely anyone did not expect this to happen.

I'm wondering what the percentage of MeFites in the 1% would be...

Probably well under 1%.

Depends on what you're measuring.

$4.99 for shipping a sheet of paper! That's the ebay I know and love.

If I were selling these, I would pack in them in crumpled-up printouts of the DEWEY BEATS TRUMAN paper.

An item bid up to a certain amount on eBay is not necessarily a sale of goods, especially if that high bid seems too good to be true.
