"Taking peer review to the Internet"

Hypothes.is could point out gotchas in a terms of use agreement. It could reveal journalistic bias and misuse of statistics. It could make publishing all sorts of falsehoods very difficult. It could ... if this ambitious project gets kickstarted.

While it's not a new (previously) idea, it's never been tried as an open standards-based platform led by Dan Whaley and these other web experts.

This post was deleted for the following reason: We're pretty much not running with the "go kickstart this" post thing on the front page. -- cortex

Is this about open source peer review as a concept, or is it a disguised beg for money?

I have no involvement in hypothes.is other than loving the promise of it, offering some donation money on kickstarter, and hoping they reach their goal.

This thread is not long for this world, but I'd like to take this opportunity to point out my annoyance with the perversion of the domain name system for creating cute branding. A .is website should be Icelandic, or have at least something to do with Iceland.

Real knowledge is all about good annotation. Whether you're looking to learn about an ancient text, a genome, or an encyclopaedia , its what it is all about.

You guys seem to be missing the MO portion of the flagging concept, which I'm sure will force the mods hands, but this looks like an awesome project and I hope it gets reposted.

Sorry, it was supposed to be http://www.google.com/sidewiki/intl/en/index.html ... but looks like it's gone anyway.
