Romenesko resigns after 12 years at Poynter
Newly graduated journalism student call out Romenesko on ethics in relation to attribution. Management reacts poorly. Jim is out. Journalists everywhere are like 'WTF?!'.

Metafilter has a long history with Jim Romenesko

I'm not a journalist but I live with (a former) one. It's fascinating drama.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Maybe someone can try and put together a more solid post about this; as is this feels thin and kind of rushed. -- cortex

This is about whether he used quotes in blog posts when he linked directly to the article he got the quotes from?

Seems kind of a silly rules-lawyerly thing to make a big deal over. It could have been handled with an email.

Wow! When I want to follow or catch up with on anything-media-related, Romenesko is really the only aggregator that I tune into (him and David Carr).

I have nothing to do with journalism. But what a shame ....
The commenters at Poynter's appear to be quite disgusted too.

Poynter is getting slaughtered on twitter right now.

Prediction Poynter loses all juice from its web presence and Romenesko keeps on going. I expect a lawsuit when he decides to not syndicate with them.
