The best of Wikipedia's worst writing

[Citation Needed] is a new book collecting terrible but hilarious writing from Wikipedia. Makes this recent study showing that Wikipedia is responsible for over 10% of all plagiarism in college papers all the more terrifying.

Part of the book is available for free download on the website.

A few of my favorites:

"Intercourse without prophylactic devices was universal before their invention."

From the "Goal Setting" entry: "The ideal - taught -is a disposition that causes an intrinsic drive to be delivered in a professional manner. The parameters of professionalism indicate a time continuum - without continuity - but exhaustion and anxiety: an irony. It is a conundrum out mania, to cause professionals to work backward in order to get to the ultimate goal. It is without faith, but grander thought in moments of observation in hopes to serve need; whether it be self or others. As goalsetters, time-targets become real and more so sensational as the end draws near —a sense of urgency falls afoot. The time is precise and specific; in which is set by the goal-setter."

And this helpful information about the Northeast Division of the NHL: "The Northeast Division is the only Eastern Conference division that ever had Canadian teams before. However, all three Western Conference divisions ever had Canadian teams before (the only one currently is the Northwest Division while the other two, Pacific and Central, are the former)."

This post was deleted for the following reason: I'm a fan, but as far as I can tell you've got a close working history with Conor and the Rifftrax crew and that makes this pretty not okay for you to be promoting. -- cortex

Surely by "Wikipedia is responsible for over 10% of all plagiarism in college papers all the more terrifying" they mean "the source which plagiarists copy from"? I mean, Wikipedia didn't hold a gun to their heads and make them copy the text....

Actually that's what all those donation campaigns have been funding. Wikipedia now has armed minions who roam schools, forcing people to plagiarize from it at gunpoint.
