What, were they just flying in circles over Tallahassee or something? That's what it looks like.
And as for the scare-slide, that would be kinda freaky if a miniature shuttle piggybacked on a miniature 747 ran into a building like that. posted by whatnotever at 4:11 PM on October 1, 2001
When I was a kid I thought the piggybacked 747 was the coolest thing in the world. Its still cool. I wonder if any RC plane enthusiast has made one yet. posted by skallas at 4:22 PM on October 1, 2001
Ahh, my old stomping grounds gettin ght espotlight on MeFi. When I was a youngster in "Tally" (what the locals call it) we would go out on the soccer fields during the school day just to watch the shuttle. Those were the days. posted by noisemartyr at 4:52 PM on October 1, 2001
I can think of a bad "Fly United" joke, but I'm not going to share it :-)
What surprises me is that the 747 usually flies much lower than usual when it is carrying the shuttle. It flew right over my school in Quebec City in 83 (or was it 84) and its altitude was much, much lower than regular planes. posted by clevershark at 5:25 PM on October 1, 2001
