Cool slideshow of the Space Shuttle being piggy-backed by the NASA 747. The #3 slide did give me a scare though.

What, were they just flying in circles over Tallahassee or something? That's what it looks like.

And as for the scare-slide, that would be kinda freaky if a miniature shuttle piggybacked on a miniature 747 ran into a building like that.

Ahh, my old stomping grounds gettin ght espotlight on MeFi. When I was a youngster in "Tally" (what the locals call it) we would go out on the soccer fields during the school day just to watch the shuttle. Those were the days.

I can think of a bad "Fly United" joke, but I'm not going to share it :-)

What surprises me is that the 747 usually flies much lower than usual when it is carrying the shuttle. It flew right over my school in Quebec City in 83 (or was it 84) and its altitude was much, much lower than regular planes.

Cool pictures: but doesn't the Tallahassee Capitol building look like the architects were reading 1984?

So would that be the Minipax, Minitrue, Miniluv or Miniplenty compound?

holgate: no, if you look at a better shot, you realize they'd just been reading too much porn.
