BBC: It is the closest confirmed planet yet to one like ours - an "Earth 2.0". No confirmation yet if it is rocky, watery, or gaseous.

So, Biosphere 2 was kind of the Vista of major Earth revisions?

I'll wait for Earth 2.1, thanks.

Based on that image of it being the only planet in its galaxy, I'm betting it's gaseous.

Oh come on. Mars and Venus are in the habitable zones of the solar system, too, and they're hardly "Earth 2.0." And even if it's a rocky planet, what if it's three or four times the mass of Earth (like some of the other rocky planets already discovered)? These discoveries are fantastic without the "it might be earthlike" hype. I wish they wouldn't do that.

Correction: "only planet in its solar system"

I am going to humbly request this be merged with Kattullus' better overarching post above
