And You Thought On-Line Dating Was Bad... If ever there was a reason to hide under the covers with a box of wine and swear off men for good, this might be it. A 1,600-word email has been making the rounds recently that's written by a poor man who really doesn't get it. His name is Mike, and he and Lauren went out on a date. Mike then proceeded to text, call, and finally email Lauren after he hadn't heard back from her.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Yeah, it's pretty much just unverifiable point-and-laugh, we nixed the previous post about it too. -- cortex

I know why we want to see these kinds of things on the internet, schadenfreude. But what about the people involved? Why did Lauren post it? Why did Mike send it? Why did it go viral?

Is this experience so universal that we've all had something weird and creepy happen to us? Are we so cruel that we want to humilate the poor schlub who sent it? Why DO we find these types of things so darn interesting?
