Mercedes supercar

Mercedes supercar to be built in Britain. God, that feels to good to read. Am I xenophobic, nationalistic or proud of the Euoropean Community on my doorstep? I'm not sure, but how can you hold a grudge against a country with this?

It might be just a car, but British industry has a reputation for comitting suicide en masse, pareticularly amongst German companies who have invested here in the past (BMW for example). It's good news that we get recognised for something we do well - advanced engineering. It's the bog standard, mass produceable engineering we've become shite at.

you guys do a nice job with tuning japanese rally cars as well. it's nice to see mclaren working with mercedes to produce a consumer car. thanks for the link.

The Mercedes SLR is a consumer car just like the McLaren F1 was. :)

I think British manufacturers are doing quite well at the moment. Jaguar is doing better than ever and from what I've read, it looks like MG will be coming out with some good stuff soon. Lotus is having a major comeback and the Elise derived VX220 they build for Vauxhall is just about the coolest car you can buy anywhere. I'm pretty sure that BMW is building the new Mini in the UK as well.

I think the problem with BMW was that the company had never really done any kind of outside investment like that before, rather than the fact that the outside investment was in the UK. Compare and contrast with VW's track record in doing this sort of thing - SEAT, Skoda etc. I understand that Audi owns Cosworth now too.

Yawn. Look lets face it if we are given a god gun I say line them up, undress their women in the street and give them fine lingerie and a bacon sandwich. Then shave the the men and use their hair as mattress stuffing and then do their women on it, while using the Koran to hold the bed up.
