American Triumphant and Can't Cry Hard Enough are nice photo montages with music. There seems to be photo montage fever. Post'em if ya got'em.

Sorry if this makes me a crankyman, but I don't like this kind of blatant manipulation when I pay $7.50 at the movies for it, and I don't like it any better now that it's being pushed at me for free by every third person who's ever learned Flash. In 1995 it was, "Look -- I can make this text blink" and in 2001 it's, "Look -- I can make you cry!"

And I always did like that song "can't cry hard enough," , too. (Julie Miller's version is better.)

I can't wait to get these in email! I'm still rolling from that expertly done "F1 - dingdingding" flash file!

I don't think it makes you a crankyman, luser. A lot of stuff like that is too obviously manipulative for my taste. And most of it does get sent ad nauseum to my inbox.

But, somehow, this time is different. I think it might be the enormity of it. Something about a collection of photos, even when I've seen them before, backed by a song, gives me an outlet to express some emotion that's really too deep to tap otherwise.

I've read several things from people saying they "didn't cry until....". I guess if this is someone's "until", it can't be all bad.

Well, I say it makes you a crankyman, but the thing is, I objected to it when it was for, oh, Dale Earnhardt. Hagiography for a racecar driver? Please.

But when 6000 people are killed drinking their morning coffee, well, I say let people respond as they wish. These seem to be healthy for some.

Newgrounds had a lot of these -- one reason, probably, that they've been off the air these last few days. Only a few were significantly interesting in terms of technique, execution, or content, but again, it's not for me to judge. Everybody's process of mourning is their own.
