That is SO adorable! And what a lovely vid to have for kiddo later! It makes me a little melancholy, too. I wish we had thought to video my Opa's reaction when we told him he was going to be a Great-Grandpa. He gleefully put his face up to my belly and yelled "Hurry up, Peanut!" Elder Monster would fall over laughing to see it.

Today, someone reminded me of this: Loving was decided over a hundred years after the end of the Civil War. The Supreme Court decided Lawrence less than ten years ago. We have come so far. I'm going to look at this when I have to remind myself that I'm never going to have that moment with my parents--because my future kids are still going to have that moment with me and my partner, thank God.

I saw that bit about "as seen on LGBT" but I wasn't sure where they got the video from either. As far as the "Dads" bit ... "Dads" is an ambiguous construct to try to indicate a single person with two Dads. I think there's still some linguistic jostling to be done before we come up with a good way to indicate that. You're right though that "Our Dads" would have unambiguously indicated the opposite. (unless of course they're the incestuous children of gay parents. But really, let's not go there :-) )

Our kid will have gay moms (due in March!), but only straight grandparents. I am accepting applications for a Gay Grandpa: interested applicants must submit 1) an "uphill both ways in the snow carrying my sister and a load of firewood" story, 2) a magic or card trick, 3) a lip-sych to a totally inappropriate pop-song, or some other act that is sure to embarrass the child in time, and 4) gay credentials (look at The Whelk's comments above for some ideas).

My kids are 14 and 11 and, while not adorable little babes, could really use an awesome grandpa of any orientation. My dad is, well, sub-optimal at best*, and my husband's father passed away before my kids were born. He was, next to my husband, the best man I have ever met in my life, and I feel so awful that my kids didn't get to know him. That baby is going to be so damned lucky, to have grandfathers like that. *true story: I'm the youngest of 5. When I told my dad I was pregnant with kid #2, he said, "If I had to do it all over again, I'd stop at the first." Gee, thanks.
