How's it supposed to get out of the browser and incinerate your hard drive with its trojan virus cooties if you don't download it? posted by XMLicious at 12:41 PM on December 24, 2011
But yeah, flash would be bad but acceptable, and HTML 5 would be ideal. How am I supposed to enjoy this on my theoretical iPad? posted by mccarty.tim at 12:42 PM on December 24, 2011

Thanks, but I keep warm by the fire of plastic baby Jesuses stolen from lawn nativity sets. Bonus is that the fumes make me see visions of sugarplums and demons dance in my head. posted by Burhanistan at 1:20 PM on December 24, 2011 [1 favorite]
LoudMusic: Something so simple and I have to download and install it? I thought this was the age of the web browser.
I was pretty overjoyed at seeing this. Finally, a simple thing that doesn't require a bloody supercomputer to run smoothly due to being implemented in a horribly inefficient platform running atop an application never designed for executable! Platformers that ran fine on Amigas or C64s struggle on even mildly aged hardware when they're implemented in Flash.
I'm also enjoying this far more than I should. Kudos for the heads-up on copper - anyone know of any other easter eggs? posted by Dysk at 1:25 PM on December 24, 2011 [1 favorite]

Can you make the SVG Fireplace so we can type words into it and make it do things? posted by exphysicist345 at 5:16 PM on December 24, 2011 [1 favorite]
yeah, you have a whole operating system on your computer. thousands of people spent millions of man-hours writing it. it's incredibly complex and considering the enormity of what it has to do, works incredibly well. a true human accomplishment. why wouldn't you want to use it?
also as far as i can tell the konami code does nothing, but if you let the marshmallow catch on fire "blow" puts it out. "christmas" is bizarre, possibly it's for debugging? posted by vogon_poet at 6:33 PM on December 24, 2011

I typed "xmas" and the big pixelated flames separated from the log, shrunk down to smaller pixelated flames and hovered above the log. Weird effect. Trying to figure out if it's a bug or intentional. posted by Thorzdad at 6:53 AM on December 25, 2011
